History and archeology in Sardinia

A blast from the past.

To understand the modern reality of Sardinia, it is important to understand its history and the events of its past, which have contributed to shape the landscape and its inhabitants.
Inhabited since ancient times, Sardinia is still an open sky museum, that hardly leave you indifferent. The vast and secluded mountain and coastal stretches, warm hospitality that has always characterized Sardinian people, crystal clear sea, the colorful folk costumes, and all those details that will never cease to surprise the the attentive visitor, have an ancient and accurate origin.

"Indulge in the ancient and fascinating archaeological sites."

The most important period, of which still we have many examples, took place between 1600 and 600 BC, a period during which the territory was the cradle of the Nuraghic Sardinian civilisation, with its magical Nuraghs, represents still today the example of the most fascinating architecture of the Sardinian archeology. Originally the Nuraghi consisted of a single tower, then switched to more articulated and reinforced buildings, maybe when the island was under external invasion.
Around some of Nuraghi were subsequently recovered the foundations of some huts, to confirm the fact that around these fortresses took place there also an “everyday life”.
The burial places of the nuraghic period, the called tombs of giants, are composed of a megalithic long hallway (the collective grave), and an exedra arch, at whose center is located generally a monumental and often very high stelae, Even during the nuraghic period, the artistic taste was well developed. As evidence of this, we have the famous bronze statues, small sculptures in bronze depicting people, animals and objects of daily life. The territory of Arzachena, thanks to the presence of numerous well-preserved archaeological sites, will take you on a journey backwards in time.Expert tour guides will lead you into the discovery of Dolmen, Necropolis, Nuraghs and sacred wells ... to explore together the mysteries of our origins.
