The art in Sardinia, has a very ancient origin. The first events were already in the the Neolithic period with the decoration of ceramics and with the representations the Mother Goddess, then move on to the Nuraghic civilization with its bronze statuettes depicting characters, animals and objects of daily life, the life that developed around the nuragic villages.

we have testimonies of the Phoenician-Punic period, especially jewelry, shawls and wall decoration, made mainly in the chamber tombs.
There are artistic evidence also of the Roman period, thanks to the discovery of elaborate and valuable sculptures, vases, mosaics and architectural surveys.

In the period of the Middle Ages, were found mostly marble sculptures of furniture inside the churches, while the exterior decoration of the same churches, dates back to a different period, when Sardinia passed from the Byzantine period to the Judicial one.
The Iberian and Baroque style influences have followed one another by producing paintings and polychrome marbles till 800, when in the Island has however developed an autochthonous artistic production, from paintings to sculpture of the 900th.
