The Marine Reserve of Tavolara island and Capo Coda Cavallo:
The marine reserve of Tavolara island and Capo Coda Cavallo, emerges from the water like a majestic massive limestone covered with luxuriant vegetation.
Located in the north east of Sardinia, close to Porto San Paolo,it shall be considered one of the most beautiful coastal tract in Sardinia. Its surface area is 10.5 square kilometers including also the minor islands (Molara and Molarotto) and its height reaches 500 meters. Its coastline, lapped by clear cobalt blue waters, are full of bays where the Mediterranean maquis, consisting of junipers and strawberry trees, and extends itself right down to the beach. It is a favorite destination for the divers from all over the world, for the richness of itsseabed, and has become Marine Protected Area in 1997.
